Professor Ron Goldstein completed his PhD studies at Columbia Medical School in New York. He made Aliyah in 1983 and after post-doctoral studies at the Hebrew University and Hadassah, joined the Faculty at Bar-Ilan in 1991.

Ron was a past president of the Israel Society for Stem Cell research and a visiting professor at University College London in 2018 giving him the opportunity to become familiar with the Central Synagogue.

His lab research concentrates on making human nerve cells from stem cells and using them to study the virus that causes “shingles”.

Ron is a father of 5, grandfather of 8 and lives in the old Katamon section of Jerusalem with his wife Judy.
