Sukkot story time with Raquel

Our first story “Is it Sukkot Yet?” by Chris Barash is a cheery introduction to Sukkot for our younger members.

The second story is “Never Too Quiet” by Barbara Diamond Goldin which teaches us the importance of Hachnasat Orchim – hospitality to guests, as well as the custom of symbolically inviting our ancestors to join us in the Sukkah for meals on each of the seven days of Sukkot: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Aaron, Joseph and David.

So although we may be limited to six with our table settings this particular year, these seven ‘founding fathers’ of the Jewish people have firm invitations to feed, nourish and fortify our spiritual selves for the material year to come with all of the divine attributes that they represent.

Wishing you all a chag sameach.
