Message from Rabbi and Naomi Lerer

Dear Central Synagogue Members,

We are living in difficult and unprecedented times and these times call for changes in the way we live our lives.

It is therefore with a heavy heart, that we must follow the directive of the Chief Rabbi and the London Beth Din and close the doors of Central Synagogue. This will apply with immediate effect, to all prayer services, weekday, Shabbat and festivals, until further notice.

In his letter to all communities, the Chief Rabbi states that he will be praying at home. It must be noted that he is currently in the year of saying Kaddish for his late father and for now, because he will not be praying in a Minyan, he will not be able to.say kaddish.

For those of you who are saying Kaddish or have a Yahrzeit coming up, We feel the pain you are experiencing, please feel free to contact us and we can explore other ways for you to memorialise your loved ones.

In addition to the Synagogue Services, all educational and social activities at the Synagogue will cease until further notice. However, we are working on ways to bring educational, spiritual and social programmes to the community in a virtual format. Please look out for further information in the coming days.

We want to reassure each and every one of our members that we continue to care for them. If we are able to support you in any way please do be in touch via our confidential care line on 07931 683 175 or through the shul office on 020 7580 1355. We really want to help.

May we all remain healthy and safe and see an end to this terrible epidemic.

Rabbi and Naomi Lerer
