Spiro Ark and Central Synagogue are delighted to invite you to a tour and lecture:
DAVID HILLMAN’S STAINED GLASS WINDOWS
by Prof David Newman OBE
David Hillman, son of Dayan Samuel Isaac Hillman, of the London Beth Din, and brother-in-law to Israel’s first Chief Rabbi Isaac Halevi Herzog, created stained glass windows for many London Synagogues, including our own. Prof. Newman of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, and a great nephew of Hillman, has been studying this fascinating story of art, religion and community politics while on sabbatical in London. These Windows are, without doubt, one of London’s hidden art treasures – not just for the Jewish community – and a well kept secret.
