Central Synagogue in Bloom

Central Synagogue was in full bloom with its very own flower show over Shavuot. The shul was bedecked with a magnificent floral display supplied and sponsored by one of its Council members

A full and varied programme of Shavuot celebrations and activities included a buffet supper and learning , a special coronation quiz and related shiur from Rabbi Barry Lerer entitled “ Of Coronation and Churches” looking at the Halachic sources for the Chief Rabbi attending the coronation of King Charles, a talk by Rabbi Ari Cohen entitled “ Are Yemenites the original chasidim “ (all on Erev Shavuot),  a cheesecake bake-off and a cheese and wine Kiddush on Shabbat, 27 May

Rabbi Barry Lerer said “ We had a wonderful Shavuot with a happy and joyous atmosphere , wonderful activities aided and abetted by truly magnificent flowers in the shul “

Chairman Mervyn Druian added “ what a thoroughly pleasurable and lovely Shavuot enjoyed by all the congregants who had the added bonus of these magnificent flowers adding class and much colour to the shul.  It has to be one of the best and most impressive Shavuot floral displays in London synagogues and elsewhere  “

Central Synagogue has embarked on an active programme of cultural events on topics of Jewish interest in its “ Talks of Interest” and “ Kiddush Talks“ programme

Information about all these events can be found on the Central Synagogue website www.centralsynagogue.org.uk
