Rabbi Barry Marcus

Rabbi Barry Marcus is a descendant of a long line of distinguished Rabbis, born in South Africa. He served as Rabbi of one of the largest communities in Johannesburg and also in Israel before becoming the Rabbi of the Central Synagogue in Great Portland Street. Rabbi Barry Marcus is a well-known for his rabbinical and pastoral duties in the UK, Israel and South Africa.

A dynamic speaker, his sermons and talks have carried the mission of the Torah, the message of our heritage, and the centrality of Israel to our People to audiences and the public at large. He has earned a reputation of steadfast and unflinching support of Israel, especially during times of crisis.

Rabbi Marcus is active in promoting Holocaust remembrance and education. In 1998, he pioneered the concept of a one-day educational trip to Auschwitz in which over 8,000 have participated to date.
