The highlight of this week’s Torah reading is undoubtedly ‘Shirat Hayam’ known also as the ‘Song of Moses’ – the poetic song of thanksgiving commencing ‘Az Yashir Moshe’ (Then sang Moses) –which is included in our daily Shacharit (morning) prayers. Hence, this Shabbat is known as Shabbat Shira – the Shabbat of Song (Shira literally means song).
