Rabbi Marcus MBE – Behar

This brief Sidra sets out the Jewish approach to the relationship that should exist between man and ‘Mother Earth’ which provides him with sustenance. This relationship is based on the verse ‘Ki lee chol Ha’aretz ‘- “for the earth is mine” (the Lord’s) Chap.25 v 23. Man is accorded the privilege of using the earth to sustain himself and must therefore never abuse the land.
