What a (Mitzvah) Day!!! Part 1 – Waitrose food collection Photos

[nggallery id=47]

Central again chose to take part in Mitzvah Day by taking to the local Waitrose and asking the wonderful shoppers of Marylebone to buy an extra item or two for the homeless and needy members of our wider Westminster and Camden community.  The generosity of the public, again left us spellbound and together with the many words of encouragement for our efforts spurred us on with a healthy bunch of volunteers until closing.

Yesterday we made drop offs to two charities which we have not supported before:  The New Horizon Youth Centre which provides a lifeline to homeless youths aged 16-21 in the area who have no one else to turn to by providing everything from hot food, showers and laundry to finding them accommodation, training and employment, as well as the Euston Foodbank which issues emergency food allocations in exchange for vouchers that service users have been given by frontline professionals.

It was great to have new volunteers on board this year – spread the word – we’d love to have even more people help next year!
